Some Random Guy Online welcomes you to his blog! I am an Emergency Medicine physician who practices in the San Francisco Bay Area with many interests, including personal finance. My wife, Random Gal, is a physician as well. We have one kid (a boy) who I call Little Random Guy, and we also have a Random Dog. I graduated from residency training in 2014 with over $400,000 in student loan debt. We were able to pay this off in a little over three years by living below our means and putting over half of our take home pay toward paying of the debt. Now that my student loans are gone, we are one step closer to our goal of financial independence.
The main purpose of this site is to entertain you, the reader. In doing so, however, I hope to share with you some of the things I’ve learned about personal finance. Posts on this blog will cover such topics as saving for retirement, investing, and getting out of debt. I also plan to chronicle my journey toward financial independence, a journey I’ve decided to call PTFO. I am still several years away from financial independence, but once there I will no longer “have” to work and will be able to say “Peace The F_@k Out!” to my job. And while most of the articles will cover financial topics, I reserve the right, in true Random Guy fashion, to post about random topics that have nothing to do with finances whatsoever.
